Rec Basketball (3) - Senior League

Boys & Girls Grades 2-8
This town-wide basketball league is open to children who live in or attend school in Andover (Girls Divisions are open to non-residents for an additional $15). Each team will have one practice and one game per week. Grades 4-8 teams will be given the opportunity to practice a second night each week, pending coach’s availability. All practices are held Monday-Friday between 4:30-8:00pm at various school gyms around town (make up practices for cancellations will be held on Fridays, at coach’s discretion). Grades 2-3 practices are 45 minutes long and Grades 4-8 practices are 60 minutes long. Grades 2-3 play on shorter 9 foot hoops - Grades 4-8 play on regulation 10 foot hoops. All games will be held on Saturdays between 12:00-8:00pm at the Andover High School Field House (see tentative game schedule below).

Player Evaluations will take place on Saturday, November 7th and Sunday, November 8th from 1:00-4:00pm at the AHS Fieldhouse. Evaluations last 30 minutes and take place every half hour. Players only need to attend one session. Coaches will evaluate all players in their division to assist the Recreation Department in better balancing player skill across each team. Players who do not attend will be placed based on years of experience, parent identified ability level and previous season coach rating (as applicable).

Coaches/Players Clinic will take place on Saturday, November 21st at the AHS Fieldhouse - clinic schedule will mirror tentative game schedule. Coaches will meet their players, receive their team equipment bags and uniforms, and have a 45 minute training session with their teams, led by Jeff Nelson.

Season

Practices: November 30th - March 5th from 4:30-8:00pm (no practices 12/21-1/1, 1/18 or 2/15-2/19)

Games: December 5th - March 6th (program does not meet on 12/26, 1/2, 2/13 or 2/20)

Fees
$275/child
Fee includes coaches clinic, reversible jersey, scoreboard operators, site coordinators, game officials, equipment and gym usage for the season.

Boys/Girls Alternate Practice Night Option (THIS IS NOT AN ACTUAL REGISTRATION). Please only select this option if your child 100% cannot attend either of the current scheduled practice nights. We are trying to assess how many children would like to participate in the program but cannot due to other commitments. A decision as to whether we'll be able to add additional practice nights will be made by Monday, November 9th.

Early Registration
Register before November 7th to receive a $25 discount. Registrations will be accepted until November 20th or until all spots have been filled in that division. *Please contact Recreation Department at 978-623-8340 for registrations after November 20th or email jeffrey.newman@andoverma.us*

Refunds
Prior to October 31st, we will be able to refund your payment minus a 10% administrative fee or provide a credit in full to your Recreation account. Prior to November 7th, we will only be able to provide a credit. From November 7th on, refunds & credits will not be given.

Team Selection
To achieve balanced teams please answer the registration questions honestly as this is a way to ensure all teams have a balance of players of all abilities. Player evaluation to assist with team placement for participants grades 2-8 will take place on November 14th/15th. Rec does not honor any requests for this program (including carpooling). Players will be notified by email by November 20th to let them know what team they are on and the time & location of their weekly practice.

Travel Team
*Rec does not run the Andover Boys or Girls Travel Teams*
If you plan on trying out for a travel team but want to hold a spot in the Andover Rec League, do not submit payment in full online. Instead, call the Rec Office to let us know that you would like us to save a spot in case your child does NOT make travel. This is the ONLY way you can hold a spot in the Andover Rec League without paying in full. Hold your spot prior to November 8th to receive the discounted rate.

Boys on travel teams are ineligible to participate in the Andover Rec League and you will be charged the cancellation fee to withdraw if your child makes the travel team and you pay in advance. Based on the total number of players, girls on travel teams are eligible to participate in the Andover Rec League at $125 per person. Please call the Rec Office at 978-623-8340 or email Jeff Newman at jeffrey.newman@andoverma.us to receive the discount. Coaches Needed
We would like to extend an invitation to anyone who would like to be a volunteer coach. Your commitment is only 1-2 hours per week depending on the league. Rec relies on parent volunteer coaches to make these leagues successful. Credits will be provided at the end of the season for Senior League coaches.
